# Archival metadata standards

* [EAC-CPF Encoded Archival Context](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encoded_Archival_Context) - for describing corporate bodies, persons, and families, maintained by Society of American Archivists and [Berliner Staatsbibliothek](https://eac.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de) is a standard for encoding contextual information about persons, corporate bodies, and families related to archival materials using Extensible Markup Language [(XML)](https://eac.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/schema/v2/eac.html); can be used on its own, or as extension to others. (Probably less relevant to us.)
## Notes
* DACS requires a minimum of descriptive fields, out of 25 in total; own fields can be added
* DACS can be exported to EAD or MARC21
* EAC-CPF seems to be frequentyl use in German-speakng areasscheint im deutschen Sprachraum häufig verwendet zu werden (für Organisationen, Personen, Familien); in v2.0 (2018) it was aligned to EAD
